Student Advisory Network Presentations 2022
NV SAN Projects 2022
Welcome to the New Visions Student Advisory Network Year 5 presentation page. This year, students focused on developing 21st Century skills to collaborate in working groups with New Visions staff members and departments. In these working groups, students and staff met virtually together to research, provide data and/or create resources that can be used by both New Visions as an organization on a systems level and at schools on a local level.
Viewing the Projects
The best way to view the projects is in the order they are presented below. A description of the project and how to use the resource and tool are included in the description. The project presentations vary in scope and size. Some presentations are self guided and require reading, while others have video or voiceovers.
Student-Led Conferences
Alicia (The Young Women’s Leadership School of the Bronx), Jashcelyn (The Young Women's Leadership School of Harlem), Julian (Millennium High School), Maya (New Dorp) and Tadane (New Visions Humanities III) and Yami (The Young Women’s Leadership School of the Bronx) worked with Sandy in the College Success unit of the Community Engagement and Postsecondary Pathways Department to better understand the steps needed for schools to prepare students to lead student-led conferences. Their video summarizes the results of the research they conducted to make recommendations on how students can be prepared to lead student-led conferences at their schools.
Alica, Tadane and Yami also presented their findings at the DOE Youth Summit. Click here to view their slide deck!

School Specific Change
Felicity, Heng and Ralph from Fort Hamilton, Aramata and Salimatou from New Visions AMS II and Zory from High School for Service and Learning worked with Kitrell from the District School Support Department to identify changes that they would like to see at their respective schools. Though there were three different schools, they used a similar of process of identifying their change idea, conducting research around that idea, analyzing the results of their research and providing recommendations or solutions for their change idea.
Fort Hamilton identified a challenge for students around knowing which courses were offered at the school. Learn more about how they identified recommendations for school to improve communication with students.
