College Access & Success

We support our schools to explore college and careers with students and their caregivers so that students graduate high school with the skills and experience to succeed.

We do this work by developing advising systems, creating resources, building the capacity of counselors, and convening professional learning communities, all in support of our scholars’ postsecondary aspirations.

We coach schools

By developing the capacity of counselors and school leaders through the Postsecondary Advising Model (PAM). We create systems and routines to ensure students graduate high school with a postsecondary plan, and the skills and knowledge to succeed in that plan.

We build community

By convening counselors and other school staff through the College Access and Action Network (CAAN). This learning community connects staff across the New Visions network to deepen their knowledge of the postsecondary landscape and identify college and career opportunities for their students.

We award scholars

By administering two scholarship programs - one that recognizes civically engaged student activists and a second that recognizes high achieving students in need. Our flagship program awards 10 students per year up to $20,000 over four years to support their undergraduate studies

We guide alumni

By supporting newly graduated seniors through our Bridge to College program and the Charter Alumni Project. By training near peer coaches and forming partnerships with colleges and alumni support organizations, we support students’ postsecondary success.
